| Paul Cullen looks on at the JJB Stadium |
WOLVES conceded 32 points without reply as they threw away a half-time lead to lose 38-14 at Wigan on Friday night.
Wolves led 14-6 late in the first half but collapsed after the interval as Wigan ran in five second-half tries to relegate the visitors to sixth in the Super League table.
Paul Cullen welcomed back Martin Gleeson and Rob Parker for the clash at the JJB Stadium but opted to leave out Chris Riley.
Matt King switched to the left wing with Kevin Penny on the right flank, Vinnie Anderson at left centre and Simon Grix making his first start since February at loose forward.
Wigan scored the first try of the game when George Carmont scored from Thomas Leuluai's inside pass, with Pat Richards converting.
But Wolves responded when Matt King powered past Richards from close range after Vinnie Anderson's offload had put brother Louis in space.
Chris Hicks added the conversion to level the scores and Wolves then went ahead as Vinnie Anderson dived to touch down Michael Monaghan's astute grubber kick.
Andy Bracek collected Martin Gleeson's brilliant reverse pass to put the visitors 14-6 in front in the 38th minute before Vinnie Anderson was harshly sent to the sin bin by referee Ashley Klein for a late tackler on the kicker.

Another controversial penalty led to Richards putting Wigan back within six points at half time and the hosts were back on level terms 13 minutes into the second period when Trent Barrett's curving run saw him nip inside Penny for a converted try.
Wigan then added two more tries within seven minutes to effectively end the match.
Liam Colbon crossed after a fine move, which was started by Gareth Hock's break and also involved Carmont and Leuluai.
Barrett followed that by charging past Jon Clarke and Mark Gleeson from close range after receiving a pass from Mickey Higham.
Wigan continued to pile on the points as Hock scored from Leuluai's pass after prop Iafeta Paleaaesina had careered forward and offloaded the ball.
The scoring was then completed as Joel Tomkins fended off Grix's tackle to race down the middle of the field and beat full back Hicks.
Wigan: Pat Richards (7g); Mark Calderwood, Phil Bailey, George Carmont (1t), Liam Colbon (1t); Trent Barrett (2t), Thomas Leuluai; Andy Coley, Mickey Higham, Paul Prescott, Gareth Hock (1t), Harrison Hansen, Sean O'Loughlin. Enough is enough, shocking, embarrasing, woefull, call it what you want. The way in which we capitulated second half was not only dire but extreamly worrying. Cullen will blame injuries but people were missing tackles left, right and centre, and not only players that were injured. The first half we looked good a couple of decisions going against us but that wouldn't have made any differance to the outcome. Other teams have had injuries and got over the worst, is it the conditioning or the training regime that is to blame? I don't know, but what I do know is that Moran has got to make the decision along with the board to replace Cullen, if not, then PC should have the bottle and admit he is out of his depth. Cas next week could be another wooping they will fancy their chances the crowd will be low (on sky, bank holiday) if Cas get a good start then we are going to struggle. The time to act is now get a coach with fresh ideas, new thinking and above all a tactical brain, Noble completely out thought Cullen second half. And that old chestnut again the D word discipline, or lack of it. Rant over I am going to have another beer, because you've got to have some pleasure in life and at the moment watching Warrington isn't one of them.

next week we may just sneak a cheeky one past Castleford and as soon as that has happened all will be forgiven like nothing has ever happened. I know it sounds bad but I actually hope we lose next week because then someone should hopefuly wake up and smell the coffee in board room at WWRLFC. Contenders to win silverware this season? Dream on what a joke!!

For once i dont think pc was to blame for that defeat, but i will not be attending another away game £41 for tickets and £5.00 petrol money wigan wanted the win more, great first half performance by the wolves second half was a different story,it was shocking, rahihi didnt want to know, are half back combination were useless and as for clarke hes not fit to put on the wire jersey as worn by the likes brian bevan etc....,yet more injuries not contact ones,i am gutted.

not making any excuses but the clown with the wistle was and disgrace he lost us our way. i went last night really knowing that we wouldnt come home with the two pnts because knowing wire they where fab last week and i new they cud,nt put two performances together because they never can. they just totally lost there way in the second half. little mark glesson was the best player last week and this week so why give clarky the start.and rah is a big lasy lump missed far many tackles last night.yes its is time for changes and actions at the top but its to late .

Agree with what you say debbie Mark gleson best player on tghe pitch.Briers didnt have a good game either what has happened to his kicking game let alone some of the bad passes.cullen as said previously will blame injuries but ive heard enough of his bs week week after week. We need a new coach asap, bringing with him new ideas, new insperations and kick the lazy arses of most of the squad. on paper we have probably the best in super league so why are we not winning matchs has to be the coach. get rid of cullen . not many weeks ago we were second look at us now. Why cant our players last 80 mins always running out of steam?. We are not fit enough other teams are having hard matches the week before and comming out the following week and giving a good display for themselves. Cullen has been a good diplomat for wire over the years but wake up Paul you are not gooe enough to take Warrington to the next level,do the decent thing and resign and let new blood into the HJ stadium.

Agree with Simon re wasting time & money to watch such drivel, but not about who's to blame. Cullen has bought world class players and they need a world class coach. PC is certainly not one of those. We should have signed Shaun McRae before Salford did. PC says he doesn't read the press & admits to taking no notice whatsoever of the paying supporters. Maybe he should, or at least Simon Moran should.

yo yo team strikes again...lack of consistancy and unfit players plus lack of game plan in the game to beat a poor wigan outfit. Come on we have the players lets get the coaching sorted out now....30 unanswered second half points is a poor show for this class of players....lets fix it soon...

What a joke. Rauhihi is sidestepped by Hock and stands still, cant even be bothered to turn and chase back!! Missed tackles and lack of desire all over the shop. Blame the ref??! Do me a favour, that is pathetic. Klein was even handed in my opinon, and it wasnt him who let in 30 unanswered points second half. Blame the lack of fitness and desire. Clarke was inept. If you cannot get fired up to prove your hometown team they missed out then its goodnight Vienna. I am getting fed up of texts from Saints Wigan and even Widnes fans laughing at me. We are the laughing stock of not just Super League, but RL in general.
And yes there are teams in a worse position than us, but none of them have spent like we have over the years for no result.

As of now I am taking extreme action. No longer am I going to watch wire play until the coach leaves. Sounds far fetched but I honestly can't afford to go a lot and when I can it is a luxury, so when this happens on a regular basis I get wound up. Paul Cullen must go. Sorry Paul I was a big of yours as your roots are from Warrington and are commited but my support for you has slipped. You will have to pull something magic out of the hat to get me back on board.

No one listened last season or the season before when some of us were calling for Cullen's head. Give him a chance we were told repeatedly. How many more chances does he want? A sterling performance of pride and passion last week at Saints followed by that abject defeat at Wigan. If Paul had any decency and honesty, he would resign by the end of today. If not, then Mr Moran et al should accept reality and give him the "vote of confidence". With a good coach and staff, this team should be going places. But all we get are excuses, and it is never PC's fault.
Drastic action required NOW!

You're defence out wide is rubbish. Briers is always found out of position which leaves the 3/4s woefully exposed. This happened both last night and last week against Stains..
There is something very wrong at Warrington when you have a team full of world class players who capitulate so dramatically against teams around them.
I've said it repeatedly for many a season. You're a big spending team who will always remain mid table under achievers unless there are sweeping changes at the club.

Another disgrace, nevermind the old and worn-out excuses. PC commented about the ref's decisions again! Wigan were affected by erroneous decisions as much as Warrington. Maybe if PC got his rear end out of the stands and off that walkey-talkey ... and rooted himself down to the same level as his team, he'd be able to communicate more effectively and advise his players. This coaching from the stands in a smart suit is nonsense!
I am hereby stating that I will not attend another Warrington game UNTIL we've changed coaches or announced that a change is in the making!! And that, fellow supporters, is an absolute guarantee!!!!!!!!!!!

Warry Warry etc etc - that is what the club should be afraid of, people losing interest in a team that seems incapable of fulfilling the promises made every season, and incapable of making decisions in the best interests of the club. Castleford must be rubbing their hands at the prospect of playing us Bank Holiday Monday.

we will beat cas as culls **** will be on the line again and the players will decide to save him yet again!! (Huddersfield @ Cardiff).
People will start to loose interest like Wary and BJ say as the club has stated its objectives for the season and as yet has failed with the goods. Things need to change you tell me that this group of international players would be playing like this in a Leeds or Saints team I think not - we would see their true potential week in week out. Lets sort it out now, starting at the top!!!

Did no-one watch the interview with PC last night?? He wasnt trying to make any excuses, he said we cant blame injuries or referees decisions. He was open, honest and candid and said that we were simply not good enough. I dont think PC is blind to the problems we have, but is actually fully aware of the cracks. Wether or not he is the man to fix them is another question, but moaning on this forum aint gonna fix it. Until the day he quits/is fired, I'll continue to support him and the club. And on the subject of Simon Moran, he is a very successful businessman who hasnt got where he is today by letting friendship get in the way of business!

In that case Cull should have gone a 2 or 3 years ago or at least not had his contract renewed last year.

Sorry to say, but Briers is now a liability. He's had his captancey removed to consentrate on his game he claims. Yet since Mozzer has taken over which for me was the best thing for the club to do as Mozzer's game has improve with responsibilty. Briers on the otherhand has gone backwards. He now can't kick his way out of a paper bag, can't tackle for toffee, breaks up the structure of the team by roaming all over the field for the wild pass which will give him a glory try if him manages to hold onto it. The only thing he seams capable off is slating the ref. which should be Mozzer's job and draggin the rest of the team down with him i.e. the Ale house. Club has a dicipline problem and it should be stamped out by the management. To achive things in life sacrifices sometimes have to be made.

Most sports provide a fairly short career, and RL is no exception. Indeed, RL can be a cruel game for players with career threatening injuries etc. If a player is blessed with talent to make it to the top, why on earth would they sacrifice that opportunity by not looking after themeselves, simply to enjoy the temptations of the bottle, and whatever else?
What puzzles me is that all these rumours fly around the town about drinking etc, yet the Guardian appears disinterested in following this up, and either exposing or disproving the rumours.
Is there some cosy arrangement with the club, or are those who submit such stories simply making mischief?
We should be told.

And here they come, still making excuses for PC. Give him the best players in the world, and they would still fail to progress.
It is the coach who sets the tone of the club, and instills discipline, on and off the field.
Being mates with one particular clique of players splits the team and results in performances like last night. It wasn't the first time this season, or last, or the one before, when we have appeared to give in and not bother. That is up to the coach to address.
If he won't, or can't because he is too friendly with a certain group of players, then he should go. How much more can the faithful take of empty promises, and excuses.
The club is bigger than any player or coach.

Re: William Hills comment about our lads being tired after last weeks efforts. The Pies played on monday night. So our lads went into the game with 3 days more rest. Tireness isn't an excuse. PC has no excuses he had the players to do the job.Playing the likes of Matt King a specialist in the centre role out of position is a bad coaching call. It's like placing Penny in a forward role, it just shouldn't be done. PC on several occasions this season has either put the wrong team out or failed to come up with answers to treats made by opposite. As for Clark he should have had a 3 match ban, as a result of his contribution to the game it wouldn't have made any difference. I acknowledge effort and Paul Parker for me put that in. Monas I hope your injury isn't as bad as it looked.

what all you PC do gooders fail to understand is that the majority of players we have are world class players and on paper we have one of the strongest teams in the super league. However they come here and nothing happens. If they would have gone to saints or wigan they would be playing to their full potential. IT HAS TO BE THE COACH, he has had his chance let someone else in and take us to glory. As for all the PC do gooders out there you may be happy with an average team but I'm not.

What was wrong with playing Riley on the wing or at full back I really don't know. As for Clarke, Cullen always seem to find a place for him dispite his virtually non-existant contribution to the game, little Glees must be getting fed up with Cullen treating him like some kind of Ginger offspring. Who's Paul Parker?.

Well spotted Tezzerwolf and apologies to Rob Parker. I'm man enough to admit to my mistakes unlike PC. Matt King did play on the wing for Melbourne, but we are talking the Wire now. He was brought in to fill the centre position and the team has been built up in pre-season with him playing there. His lack of form is partly to do with him having to cover for Penny's defensive ability. Putting him out on the wing is not helping his cause to overcome his poor form in at centre role.

All our new players were not playing their normal positions last night. They must be wondering what kind of a club they have signed for . I for one dont blame them if they all want to return home and play the game as it should be played. Cullen thinks spend money on good players and that will solve all our problems and then he wont have to do much work just sit in his box and spout through his mike. Think he needs to have a long talk with himself this weekend and as for bries rubbish !!! Clarke on again what a joke. Little Gleese is ace and plays well but cull wont play him if clarke is available. Something is very wrong at the wire and only time will tell what it is. one thing for sure it is something that they all dont want us to know about.

Some of PC's defenders (few and far between) have noted above that their feeling is that it's up to the players to perform on the day ... and that it's not the coach's attitude that affects the team. See below for a classic knock-on affect, taken out of today' paper.
Ronaldo recently announced that a career in Spain would appeal in the future, but the Portugal international has now dropped the strongest suggestion yet he will remain in England until United boss Ferguson decides to retire.
Ronaldo, who joined United in 2003 in a £12million move from Sporting Lisbon, told the News of the World: "The boss is the reason I am here in the club.
As somebody so succinctly put it above, the coach is the team's lifeline and blood. Wrong decisions and attitude on his part are bound to affect the overall performance of the team. If the coach is not performing, the team is not performing.

Interesting comments above. I too have stated my dissatissfaction several times before about the drinking culture at this club only to see them removed. Obviously us Warringtonians don't live in a democratic society! Anyway that asside, I have no great answers I don't claim to be a RL expert, I am not going to get on the 'sack PC' bandwagon, all I am going to say at the moment is ''I don't enjoy being a Warrington fan at the moment!'' I am embarrassed at the way we are performing as a team, embarrassed about how the club is viewed by the rest of the Superleague community and sick and tired of poor performances after seeing an improvement the week before. Simon Moran is an asstute business and we are all greatfull for his investment in the club. Surely he must be able to see that he needs some return on this investment and that there is no room for sentiment in business. Action is needed nowm and something should have been done before now. Yet another season has gotten away from us, it is too late now but we need to start to look forward to next season. The fans are begining to vote with their feet and I know a lot of people who are not even bothering to use their season tickestm me included.

Quite right Chris. Nobody can go around making wild allegations without proof.
Now that you have clarified that Chris, can you answer the question that I and others have posed on this thread - why is the Guardian so silent on this issue, and are there plans to investigate?

I have noticed that all the threads that have been removed relate to one thing. Maybe if the club acknowledged this ongoing issue then we would be able to play a consistantly god game and for once win some silverware. If the club do not want allegations made about a certain culture happening within the club, then surely the players concerned should think twice before acting so very unprofessional. I know there are many brilliant sportsmen in the team, but a couple are giving the rest a very bad name. I, as a season ticket holder for many years am perfectly right to have an opinion on these matters along with thousands of others. So please Warrington guardian, let's start highlighting these issues and maybe some good will come from it!!!!

Name and shame the individuals involved in the culture that has been mentioned in this topic. Either on this forum or the RLFANS forum....be honest as the consequences are not worth the lies.
Who, where and when and obviously ensure that alcohol is involved!
Enough is enough. This team should be performing.
By the way, Monas has asked to be released due to the poor attitude within the club....as per allegations in this topic and due to unprofessional training methods...as stated by the chairman of another sucessful SL team.
Time for the fans to take control!

1. I don't think the Guardian would allow for people to name and shame, remember they are supposed to be the clubs media partner. I do think they should be more critical though.
2. You seem to have knowledge that Monas has asked to be released, is that rumour or fact?
3. Which other SL chairman has alleged we adopt unprofessional training methods
I am only a fan and nothing to do with the Guardian but IMO what you have said unless 100% factual could lead to the Guardian being in trouble with the club and we may lose the forum again. Although If everything is true please share more details.

All the fans want is to see results. This year we were promised so much with all the money spent on new players. To be honest we have been worse this season. Wont get into the play off this year again. We need a good full back like all the other teams have and let our players play in their normal positions. Can not wait to see where cull puts them next week. WILL BE THERE TO WATCH CASTLEFORD STUFF US

I don't know if it's true, but I have heard that Cullen is out to be replaced by Grahem Murray

The Guardian will do what it always does - focus on next game, next week, next season and how fantastic the Wire WILL be - there's never any reporting with an ounce of criticsm of either the team or the bulletproof coach. There's never a mention of any fan's concerns or feelings unless the comments are gushingly positive. Come on Mr. Flannery and Mr. Parsons and all - report it how it is..
[bold]THE MAJORITY OF FANS WANT SOMETHING DONE AND DONE NOW.[/bold]
If we can't do it this season with this set of individuals who are all obviously talented, it'll never happen. They're certanly not pulling together as a team, and it seems they're just not fit enough but then if you drink, smoke and generally have zero discipline which seems to be PC's favourite word then what should you expect?
Surely somebody needs to grab this team by the scruff of the neck and shake them into shape. And it's not PC.

There is a story that the players were given the day off from training the Monday after the "Loss" to Saints for playing so well!! They were also given a treat! Hire Grappenhall cricket club for the day and a BBQ was arranged. We had a day off, Wigan palyed an 80 minute game and "who" looked in better shape? The only spirit in these players is "alcohol"!!!!! Injuries apart you still have to compete. Remember the Leeds clash at home last season the team had a real go. They got hammered (fraudulent slip) but the fans appreciated the effort on show as they always will. How many fans posted last year that Cullen would turn the new players into mediocre players within the first season? Give Cullen a chance? I'll give him two - Little and No chance get rid today and save the dignity of our club!!!

Steven, not sure about Murray. Not exactly lit the NRL up this year has he. If you can build a case for him though I will gladly retract my point. I think the imprtant issue is that change is needed and SOONER rather tan LATER. As snaggletooth said. For the sake of the dignity of the club and for the sake of the loyal Wire faithful.

The board must act now and terminate PC's contract before Graham Murray is snapped up, just like Ian Millward. If Mr Murray hasn't already got another challenge lined up, i reckon he won't be available past the end of the week.

Ellery Hanley doing great things at Doncaster. He is edging his way back into rugby League after many years out of it. Doncaster won 6 from 6 matches since he was in charge and in the run for promotion at the end of the season. A brilliant start for Hanley and would be an asset to any club I am sure.

Ellery Hanley is doing great things with Doncaster, since signing with them at the end of last year. They won their first 6 from six matches this season, and certainly hopeful for promotion. Hanley is edging his way back into the world of Rugby League and with these results and his experiences as a player himself, he would be an asset to any team.

He also commands respect and would put a few of the so called superstars in their place. See that Peter Sharp has fallen on his sword at Hull. Departing with dignity and not blaming thehorrendous injury list on his failings this year. Good luck to the guy. a role model to other coaches perhaps?

Knowing the board at Warrington they will probably give Peter Sharp a five year contract.

Gave up my season ticket last year as travelling over for each game proved too much when I seem to put in more effort to get there than the players did for 80 mins.
