Glazebury move on up after crushing eight-wicket victory
GLAZEBURY moved up to fifth in Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two with a comprehensive eight-wicket triumph at Radbroke Hall on Saturday.
Three wickets from paceman Dave Acton quickly reduced Radbroke Hall to 17 for 3 in their innings and Andy Calvert then took 4 for 32 as the hosts were dismissed for 114.
An opening partnership of 73 between Gary Dunlop, who made 54, and Dave Mason then put Glazebury on course for victory, with the hosts reaching the victory target for the loss of just two wickets.
Glazebury's second team secured their first win of the season at the fifth attempt as they won by three wickets at home to Eastham's first team.
Ryan Warhurst took 2 for 35 and Dave Nicholson claimed 2 for 14 as Eastham declared on 175 for 8 at Hurst Lane but Glazebury's second-wicket partnership between Andy Durrington and Wayne Hargreaves put them in contention for victory.
Durrington made 90 - including 10 fours and three sixes - and Hargreaves amassed 51 but Eastham fought back.
Glazebury slipped from 149 for 2 to 153 for 6 but had enough in reserve to squeeze home with three balls remaining.
Glazebury's third team lost by just four runs at home to Skelmersdale's thirds in the Beardsley Cup.
Rhys Marsh was Glazebury's top scorer with 21 runs as they were dismissed for 126 and Skelmersdale reached the target for the loss of only four wickets despite figures of 2 for 13 from Kyle Keeble.
